While not every underground station is wonderful, the vast majority of them are, and those that are not magnificent are clean and better than any other subway station you have been on.
We go on a self tour and hop on/ hop off the train to take photos of the stations.
The day we do this is Sunday so the service isn't as good as in the week. We have to wait as long as 3-4 minutes for a train!!!! During the week they are every 1-2 minutes.
Only trap is we have a map in English (phonetic) and subway signs are in Russian. We have a decoder, which we use to 'translate'.
