043 Switzerland: Geneva

Switzerland: Geneva

Frank assured me he was taking a photo of the old castle!

Lake Geneva is large, clean and surprisingly warm.

By the time he swims to the pontoon the girls are gone. Poor Frank :(

We had to go into Geneva 3 times to finally see Jet d'eau. As it is a main feature of Geneva we didn't want to leave without seeing it

You can walk right up to it and go along the small pier beyond. No railings - just a warning notice to say be careful when the wind changes as you could get wet and the rock is slippy.

We drive up into the surrounding hills. The views are stunning.

At the top we are rewarded by discovering a location where the hang gliders/parachutists launch.
The weather is perfect and we see over 20 of them in the sky. They really do look like they are soaring like eagles.

We take a lunch cruise for 90 mins. It is $32 each, which we think is great value. Imagine our surprise when we get on board and lunch is not included - that is another $83 each (excluding alcohol).
Frank keeps asking people which is George Clooney's house. No one knows, When we get back, Frank Googles it - George lives on Lake Como!!!!!

Next day we have a wonderful lunch with local produce: hams, cheese, bread, olives and wine (white!). Frank has a funny conversation with the waitress, she wants to practice her English, he wants to practise his French. He asks "Which one is Mont Blanc ?". She answers "On a normal day it would be over there". Frank says "So where does it go when it isn't a normal day?". It was very funny.
